Youth Leadership Project

2023-24 Leadership Project Information will be posted here by October 3, 2023

The Youth Leadership Project is an opportunity for young men and women to learn leadership skills using basketball as the platform.

This program will take six people every semester.  Those who are accepted into the program will be first trained in the classroom.  We will provide detailed instruction on the following skills:

  1. Coaching basketball - Game strategy and team development

  2. Skill Instruction - How to teach the fundamentals to younger players

  3. Referee Training - Rule comprehension and communication

  4. First aid protocols - What should you do in a medical emergency?

  5. Public Speaking - How to get your message across to a team or large audience

  6. Child Safety - How to advocate for the children we coach.

As well, trainees will be exposed to working in a professional environment with emphasis on co-worker communication and meeting supervisor expectations.

After the classroom training, those in the program will train on site at a Motor City Evolution program.  Trainees can choose to coach a team, instruct at a clinic or referee in an area basketball league.  Trainees are also welcome to train over the summer at Basketball Camps throughout the area.  Continuous evaluations will be given as we groom our trainees for a paid position.
