Girls Summer Training Program

Keep your skills sharp and get ready for next year's team with the MCE Summer Training Program!  Girls entering grades 4-8 will have opportunities every Wednesday to work skills on the court and strength in the fitness center.  Players can pick the weeks they want to train - no summer-long commitment needed!

DATES:  June 18, 25, July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6, 13

TIMES:  Skills 6-7pm / Strength Training 7:15-8pm

SKILLS FORMAT:  Players should bring their own ball and a water bottle.  Players will check in between 5:45 and 6pm.  Coaches will work on some basic conditioning and then separate the players into two groups based on grade and ability. Players will work on skills for 45 minutes and then half-court scrimmage for 15 minutes.  Session will end with some light cardio training.  $15 per player.  Players do not need to attend the strength training to participate in the skills session.

STRENGTH TRAINING FORMAT:  Players in entering grades 5-8 can transition to the fitness area where instructors will work on core strength, cardio and upper/lower body training.  Older players will be introduced to upper body weightlifting for basketball players.  We will not use weights for lower body strength - only plyometrics and body weight.  This will be a robust workout with education on fitness, nutrition, hydration and recovery.  $20 per player. Players do not need to attend the skills session to participate in strength training.
